Dust alert for today and tomorrow. Wind blown dust is possible today in a few locations. I expect much more winds tomorrow but we might see a few spikes in PM10 across the region. Below is the 12Z run of the RUC for winds today at 6 pm.
The AQI shows an area of moderate air quality over the Paso del Norte and El Paso County due to PM10.
This morning I noticed lingering smoke from yesterday toward the west. Not a lot but it was there. My guess it's from the Horseshoe 2 Fire. As day goes on some of the smoke aloft may mix down to the ground but I wouldn't expect to see much of an increase in PM2.5 as a result.
No sign of precipitation over the next 5 days in southern NM. A strong upper level low will progress across the country this period but the moisture will again bypass the southern deserts.
