Hazy morning in Las Cruces. I'm just getting to post at 1 pm since I was at the American Society Agricultural and Biological Engineers Annual meeting today. Lots of good stuff presented.
Our AQI forecast shows an area of moderate air quality centered over Dona Ana county. It's attributed to ozone.
There's a lot going on in the atmosphere overhead and at the surface. We have wildfire smoke, windblown dust from the last storm blowing across the US, Asian dust coming in from the Pacific, and Central American wildfire smoke coming in from the south.
So far the Texas wildfire smoke is going south and not affecting us. The map below was of fire locations and smoke outlines as of 22 UTC (4 pm).
The moderate AQI area extends over a greater area than the forecast at 2 pm.
