Feb. 11 - Brisk start to the day with a low of 19F at NMSU. We will be warming up today more than yesterday and mixing heights should also be higher. We should see light northeasterly to easterly winds today as we transition to our warming period.
We have elevated particulates at most of our sites this morning due to the low winds and strong temperature inversion. As an example the NMED Anthony station particulates are shown below.
Today's AQI forecast calls for an area of moderate air quality in the Paso del Norte and green in Dona Ana County.
We saw a fairly strong low wind high PM event at the Sunland Park City Yard station. Peak hourly PM10 reached 280 µg/m3 at 7 pm. At the same time the PM2.5 concentration was 96 µg/m3.

The AQI map at 10 pm reflects the elevated PM from the low wind high PM event.
The Dona Ana County AQI forecast for Saturday is 61 which is in the moderate range and is attributed to ozone rather than particulates.
