April 5 -

Today's low was 43F at NMSU. Our average low for this day is 41F. Antelope Wells dipped to 36F this morning.

 I'm expecting lighter winds today but breezy in the afternoon. The NWS is forecasting winds speeds in the 11 to 17 mph range with gusts up to 24 mph. Below is the prediction for 6 pm this evening.

Today's AQI map shows an area of moderate air quality over Dona Ana, eastern Luna, and southern Sierra counties.The AQI value is 52 for ozone and 51 due to PM2.5.
The forecast for tomorrow indicates some strong winds  in the afternoon with gusts to 40 mph. There is also a 10 percent chance of precipitation. Below is the GFS wind forecast for Wednesday evening and the QPF for that night. The coloring is keyed to wind speed in mph. Much of our region is within the 0.01 inch contour line excluding the areas to the south. We could see some dust at some of our sites.
