June 4

Today's wind forecast from RUC showed the highest winds over the Gila with light winds elsewhere at 3 pm.
I measured 0.25 inches of rain today at a cabin just east of Cloudcroft. Pea sized hail also fell there twice around noon and in the early afternoon along with thunder storms. On the way back to Las Cruces it was windy driving through in Alamogordo and WSMR in the evening with lots of sand blowing around White Sands.  Winds appeared to be from the south at White Sands based on a quick look at blowing sands. Below is a view looking southwest from Organ on Highway 70 at 7 pm showing haze.
Smoke plumes from the big fires in AZ appear to be transported toward the northeast this afternoon based on GOES visible imagery at 7:15 pm. The Wallow Fire in east central Arizona is now the 3rd largest fire in Arizona history at 140,000 acres.
Based on the RUC moisture will flow back in to the area overnight. The movie below shows dewpoints from 21 today to 15 UTC tomorrow

The AQI forecast for tomorrow is for good air quality.
