Nice warm day in the borderland. High of 81 at Las Cruces airport. Was a Gila Cliff Dwellings today. Saw a smoke plume as I was approaching Silver City. The fire was to the west of Silver City. See the NOAA SSD Fire Detection map screenshot. Based on info from the Southwest Coordination Center, the fire was a prescribed burn (Willow broadcast burn), Lat: 32.6545, Long: 108.4666 at 800 acres per day. Hiking all day in the Gila Wilderness, I thought that the visibility was pretty good. See the photo from 6pm looking north from route 15.
